Hoiana Shores Golf Club - world-class Robert Trent Jones Jr. II course

Hoiana Shores Golf Club is the first Robert Trent Jones II Golf Course Architects (RTJ II) golf course in Vietnam. Forty-five minutes south of Danang International Airport and 8 kilometers south of the Hoi An Ancient Town UNESCO World Heritage Site, Hoiana Shores plays through dunes along the Vietnamese coastline. The town is known as "The City of Lanterns," and fittingly, lanterns instead of flags top the pins at Hoiana.
The championship Hoiana course is a link design with limited vegetation and rolling dunes, and two returning nines on the coastal property are comprised entirely of pure sand. The course is grassed with TifEagle Bermuda greens, while tees and fairways feature Zeon Zoysia grass.
Course building techniques preserved the existing dune and pine terrain, making holes play through the Casuarina trees and brush native to the area. Other holes, especially the finishing ones, come up right along the sea and play inside the coastal dunes. The course plays firm and exhibits many ground game-playing characteristics found on a links layout in the British Isles but in a tropical setting.
Hoiana Shores can support a wide variety of setup options, be it a professional event or catering to amateurs looking for a straightforward, enjoyable round of golf. The wide playing corridors present golfers with a wide range of strategic options.
The round at Hoiana Shores reaches a climax on the back nine. Located close to the shoreline, Holes 16, 16, and 17  are unique as the wind comes right off the sea and crosses the fairways and greens. A careful aim is critical to hitting each green in regulation. The final hole plays back to the clubhouse and into the prevailing wind.
Hoiana Shores Golf Club is part of the larger Hoiana complex and integrated resort, including luxury hotels, entertainment outlets, residential communities, and retail complexes. The clubhouse and changing rooms are excellent, as is the steak house outlet in the clubhouse. The entire setup is reminiscent of an old-school design that dates back to early in the 19th century, with the modern conveniences of the 21st.
The golf experience is first-class, with facilities and service characteristics of a 5-star luxury resort. Hoiana Shores adds to the legendary golf coast of Vietnam, which is already known for the collection of top signature golf in Vietnam. Green fees are the steepest region, and tee times are limited. However, costs withstanding,  Hoiana Shores Golf Club is a definite must-play.
