Sapa Grand Golf Course (Lao Cai Golf Course) is situated in Bat Xat, northwest Vietnam, close to the border with China. Developed by Sun Group, it is the province’s first publicly accessible course designed by IMG, an international golf course design company. This makes it suitable for both local Vietnamese golfers and international visitors.

Due to the limited space on the hillside site, it was a challenge to fit in all 18 holes. Some of the holes are located in the valleys, while others traverse along ridges, offering magnificent views of the surrounding countryside. The course features significant elevation changes, adding to the golfing experience.

One of the highlights of Sapa Grand Golf Course is the presence of lakes, streams, and waterfalls that meander through the bottom of the site, intersecting six holes, starting from the twelfth and concluding on the seventeenth.

The course also runs along narrow ridges and deep valleys, with the Red River separating China and Vietnam visible from several holes. The predominantly fertile soil is occasionally interrupted by rocky outcrops. Errant shots may find themselves caught in the native grasses surrounding the fairways, as well as the shrubs and trees beyond the course’s perimeter.

To accommodate golfers of various skill levels, each hole at this Sa Pa Grand Golf Course offers five sets of tees, wide fairways, and spacious greens. The use of platinum paspalum grass ensures excellent playing surfaces, although its durability in the colder temperatures of the North Vietnam mountains remains to be seen.

Completing the golfing experience at Sapa is a modern clubhouse equipped with all the necessary amenities. Golf carts, trained caddies, and multiple food and beverage outlets are available, providing convenience and comfort to golfers in Sapa.
